The communal book - \"a community of pages\" - was the result of a six week artist in residency I led, in 2009, which was funded by The Orcome Trust and Abbeyhill Primary. I worked with P7 pupils, devising a project that would link closely with their curriculum, where they were learning about World War Two. Asking them to imagine themselves as WW2 evacuees, I worked with their teacherto help them to compose letters to loved ones, at home. Hence the title of the project, \"A Home Away From Home\". The letters have been incorporated into interactive artworks by the pupils, who gave a moving performance to an invited audience, as a culmination of the project.
